The war on Gaza has sparked divisions within “Israel,” with thousands of officials opposing the continuation of the war, which they say serves political interests tied to the ruling party and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that around 1,700 Israeli artists and intellectuals had signed a petition demanding an end to the war on Gaza and the return of captives held in the Strip.
The paper added that the number of Israelis who have signed petitions calling for an end to the war and the return of the captives exceeds 100,000.
