Iranian official blames U.S. for potential failure of Nuclear talks

Tehran has warned that Washington will bear full responsibility if nuclear negotiations collapse due to what Iranian officials describe as "unreasonable demands."

AhlulBayt News Agency: Tehran has warned that Washington will bear full responsibility if nuclear negotiations collapse due to what Iranian officials describe as "unreasonable demands."

According to Iran Press, Ayatollah Mohsen Qomi, a senior aide to Iran's Supreme Leader, stated that the United States' insistence on reducing Iran’s uranium enrichment to zero is an irrational expectation that Tehran will not accept.

“Iran is the second-largest victim of weapons of mass destruction after Japan,” Qomi said, referencing the country’s chemical warfare victims. He emphasized Iran's scientific advancements in uranium enrichment, asserting that nuclear technology is crucial for medicine, agriculture, and the nation's future.

As talks continue between Iran and the U.S., the Iranian leadership maintains its stance that negotiations must proceed without coercion. Iran’s nuclear program remains a focal point of geopolitical tensions, particularly following the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Tehran argues that it has paid a high price—through sanctions and political pressure—for its nuclear development and will not compromise its rights under international treaties.

The diplomatic standoff highlights longstanding disagreements between Iran and Western powers over the future of Tehran’s nuclear capabilities. Iranian officials assert that their nuclear program is peaceful, while Washington continues to push for stricter restrictions on enrichment levels.

The outcome of the negotiations remains uncertain as both sides refuse to back down from their positions.
