Israeli forces intensify attacks on Jenin refugee camp, demolishing homes

Israeli forces continue their aggression in Jenin, demolishing 600 homes and displacing over 22,000 Palestinians. The economic situation has deteriorated, with businesses shutting down and damage exceeding 300 million USD.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have dispatched additional military reinforcements to the Jenin refugee camp and its surroundings, as the aggression continues for the 118th consecutive day. Several neighborhoods in the city are witnessing daily patrols of IOF infantry units.

The IOF fired live ammunition inside the camp while expanding bulldozing and destruction operations, aiming to alter its features and structure. The occupation forces continue to block access to the camp, preventing entry.

According to Jenin Municipality estimates, around 600 homes have been completely demolished, while the remaining houses have been partially damaged and rendered uninhabitable. The IOF continues to fire live ammunition intensively within the camp.

Significant damage has affected facilities, homes, and infrastructure in Jenin, particularly in the eastern and Al-Hadaf neighborhoods. Meanwhile, in the early hours of the morning, Israeli forces arrested freed prisoner Yasmine Shaaban from her home in Al-Jalama village, north of Jenin.

The villages of Jenin governorate are experiencing daily raids, with constant military movements recorded across most villages. IOF patrols and vehicles remain present throughout the region.

An elderly man was shot in the foot by Israeli forces at the entrance to Jenin camp, known as Horse Roundabout, on Saturday. Later, a young man was also shot in the thigh with live ammunition.

IOF soldiers stormed several towns and villages in Jenin governorate on Saturday night. An infantry unit raided Arraba, fired stun grenades, detained a civilian’s vehicle, and searched it, followed by raids on Ya’bad and Jilbun.

Families in the camp, along with hundreds of displaced families from the city and surrounding areas, remain forcibly displaced. The Jenin Municipality reports that the number of displaced people has exceeded 22,000.

The economic situation in Jenin continues to deteriorate, with severe commercial losses reported due to the aggression. Numerous shops have been forced to close, and shopping traffic has declined. Bulldozing and infrastructure destruction, including streets, have impacted a large number of businesses, especially in the western neighborhoods, which are experiencing near-total economic paralysis. The preliminary estimate of damages exceeds 300 million USD.

Since the beginning of the IOF aggression on January 21, 40 martyrs have been killed, in addition to dozens of injuries and arrests.
