UNICEF warns of worsening crisis for Palestinian children in Gaza

UNICEF has issued a dire warning about the deteriorating conditions for children in Gaza under Israel’s ongoing blockade. The World Food Programme (WFP) warned that famine is imminent if aid is not allowed in. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed 53,272 Palestinians and wounded 120,673 others.

AhlulBayt News Agency: UNICEF, originally the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, has issued a new warning about the dire conditions of Palestinian children in Gaza, emphasizing the impact of the ongoing Israeli blockade.

On Sunday, UNICEF reported that conditions in Gaza have significantly worsened over the past two months due to Israel’s crippling siege. The agency highlighted that Palestinian children are enduring relentless airstrikes while being deprived of essential goods, services, and life-saving care.

UNICEF called for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory. The organization stressed that without prompt action, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza would continue to escalate.

In separate statements on Sunday, UN agencies condemned the daily suffering and deaths of children in Gaza. They noted that the situation has been exacerbated by the ongoing blockade of emergency aid, including food and medicine, preventing relief from reaching Palestinian civilians.

UNICEF, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stated:
"Children in Gaza are facing relentless bombardments while being deprived of essential goods, services, and lifesaving care since the beginning of the conflict."

The agency further warned that the situation has deteriorated due to the blockade of humanitarian aid and demanded immediate intervention:
"Aid MUST enter Gaza now. The ceasefire MUST be reinstated NOW."

Meanwhile, the World Food Programme (WFP) raised the alarm about an impending famine in Gaza. The organization urged the international community to take action to ensure food reaches civilians beyond the Israeli blockade.

WFP emphasized:
"If we wait until after a famine is confirmed, it will already be too late for too many."

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime has carried out a brutal war against Palestinians in Gaza, resulting in 53,272 deaths, mostly women and children, and injuring 120,673 others.

In recent days, the Israeli military announced plans to intensify attacks on Gaza, utilizing newly recruited reserve troops to expand occupation zones and forcibly relocate Palestinians.
