AhlulBayt News Agency - Israeli police tightened restrictions on Palestinian residents and vehicles’ movement in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Israeli policemen were deployed in large numbers in the vicinity of the Old City gates and stopped and searched all passing Palestinian vehicles.
A number of passing-by Jerusalemites were also stopped and searched including a young woman before being released.
Several make-shift checkpoints were erected in al-Tur neighborhood, Silwan town, and al-Zahra Street in the occupied city.
Six detainees were earlier rounded up in occupied Jerusalem including an elderly.
Meanwhile, Israeli police denied the teacher Hanadi Halawani’s entry to al-Aqsa Mosque for six months shortly after her release.
Halawani was detained while attending her colleague Sahar Natsheh’s court session and held in custody for five days.
She was sent to house arrest till next Thursday. A fine estimated at 5000 shekels was also imposed on her.
On the other hand, the Israeli Central Court refused to extend the arrest of two Jerusalemites including Sahar Natsheh and asked the police to file an indictment against them.
The Israeli court also extended two elderly Jerusalemite detainees’ arrest for ten days and refused an appeal submitted by their lawyer to visit them.
The two elderly detainees were arrested on Tuesday after they left al-Aqsa Mosque.
