Iraqi Parliament Speaker Says He Discusses Fight against Terrorism in Iran

On the eve of his visit to Iran, Iraqi parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri said he will discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in fight against terrorism and support for national reconciliation in Iraq with Iranian officials.

On the eve of his visit to Iran, Iraqi parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri said he will discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in fight against terrorism and support for national reconciliation in Iraq with Iranian officials.

On Friday, Al-Jabouri said that development of bilateral ties, especially in the field of legislation, is among issues of interest to be discussed in Tehran talks.

Referring to severe drop of oil price, he said the two countries are facing similar economic threats and exchanging views on the issue is very important.

Iraq parliament speaker, by referring to problems and dangers in the region, underlined that undoubtedly one of the most important goals in strengthening mutual ties is to create a regional understanding.

Referring to dangers which threaten the region, al-Jabouri underlined that the two countries should play an active role to end these threats.

Concerning parliamentary cooperation, al-Jabouri said that exchanging views and cooperation between the two parliaments existed in the past and now we have two parliamentary friendship groups.

Salim al-Jabouri, who took office in June 2014, is to visit Tehran on Friday for the third time.

Iran's parliament Speaker Ali Larijani paid a visit to Iraq in December 2014.
