Iran's Sanandaj selected to host final round of Iran’s National Quran Competition

Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition is the country’s largest Quranic event, promoting Islamic values and Quranic literacy. The upcoming edition will be hosted in Sanandaj and mark a new milestone with simultaneous finals for men and women. The winners will represent Iran in international competitions worldwide.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The final round of the 48th edition of Iran’s National Holy Quran Competition will take place in the western city of Sanandaj, Kordestan Province, an official announced.

Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, made the announcement during a meeting of the Quran Competitions Coordination Supreme Headquarters held in Tehran on Monday.

He confirmed that Sanandaj will host the finals in the Iranian calendar month of Mehr (September-October).

Majidimehr noted that while initial discussions considered holding the competition in Tehran, the enthusiasm and passion of the people of Kordestan—despite infrastructural challenges—led to the decision to host it in the province.

Unlike previous editions, this year’s final round will take place simultaneously for both men and women.

The National Holy Quran Competition, organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, is Iran’s largest Quranic event, drawing participants from across the country to compete in various categories.

The annual competition is regarded as one of Iran’s most prestigious religious events, aimed at promoting Islamic values, fostering Quranic literacy, and recognizing outstanding talent.

Top winners of the national competition will go on to represent Iran in international Quran contests around the world.

Majidimehr also discussed preparations for the 42nd International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that invitations have been sent to various countries to introduce their representatives.

So far, invitations have been extended to 170 nations, and it is expected that approximately 110 will confirm their participants for this year’s event.
