AhlulBayt News Agency – An Israeli captive held by Hamas in Gaza has delivered a desperate message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing the captives’ overwhelming fear of being killed amid relentless Israeli airstrikes.
The footage, released on Saturday by Hamas’ military wing, al-Qassam Brigades, features captives Yosef-Haim Ohana and Elkana Bohbot, who have been held in Gaza since October 7, 2023. The video shows Ohana seated beside Bohbot, who appears visibly unwell and lies under a blanket.
Ohana identifies himself as "prisoner number 21" and Bohbot as "prisoner number 22," emphasizing the deteriorating physical and psychological state of his fellow captive. He recounts Bohbot’s repeated self-harm attempts and refusal to eat or drink, stating, "Our lives are in imminent danger. Every minute here is critical."
Ohana also appeals to Israeli pilots, urging them to reconsider their actions. He commends those who have refused to fly and signed petitions against the war, while condemning those who continue bombing Gaza, endangering both civilians and captives.
The captives' families have expressed frustration over inconsistent information regarding the number of hostages still alive. Ruhama Bohbot, Elkana’s mother, has voiced her anguish over the lack of official communication, stating that conflicting reports have left families confused and distraught.
Netanyahu recently stated that at least 21 captives remain alive, with the status of three others uncertain. Ohana questions whether the Israeli government is prolonging the war intentionally, asking, "How many should die? Do you want it to be less than 20 or more than 20? Tell us!"
He concludes his message by demanding an immediate end to the war, questioning why the bloodshed continues after nearly 19 months.
