AhlulBayt News Agency: A Palestinian analyst, reviewing the reasons for the Zionist regime's recent contemptuous conduct towards Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian self-rule authority, said, "Tel Aviv looks at the self-rule authority as a security contractor and even thinks of gradually omitting it."
Samar Hamad, Palestinian analyst, in an interview with Shahab news agency, addressing the recent measures of the Zionist regime against Mahmoud Abbas, said that this is part of the strategy to humiliate and undermine this authority. Hamad believes that Tel Aviv considers the Self-rule authority not as a political partner but rather as a mere security contractor whose duty is to execute security coordination, administer daily affairs and control the wrath of Palestinians.
This Palestinian pundit added, "The recent moves of the Zionist regime against the self-rule authority, including prohibition of the entry of Mohammad Mostafa, the Prime Minister of the Self-rule Authority, to Nablus in the north of the West Bank, prohibition of flight for Abbas' airplane to Syria and forcing him to travel via ground to Damascus, is a great development in the conduct of the occupiers towards the self-rule authority." This move, which according to daily Maariv has enraged Jordan and the Self-rule Authority, conveys a political message, i.e. negation of political sovereignty from the authority and restricting it to fulfill security and services affairs.
Hamad believes that the war in Gaza has changed equations and has led Israel to gradually omit the Self-rule Authority. Tel Aviv is looking for an alternative for this authority or even instigating calculated chaos in the West Bank so that the situation is drawn up to its own benefit. This strategy has been designed with the aim of undermining the political power of the Self-rule Authority and turning it into an institution affiliated to occupiers.
Samar Hamad called the policy of waiting and inaction of the Self-rule Authority as "political suicide" and called on its officials to specify their stance: Are they merely a security institution affiliated to the enemy or a political institution in pursuit of the independence of Palestine?
This Palestinian analyst warned that continuation of this trend will imperil the very existence of the Self-rule Authority.
