US cannot claim to restore regional stability while slaughtering Yemenis: Iranian FM

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says the United States cannot claim to restore stability in West Asia while slaughtering innocent Yemeni people.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says the United States cannot claim to restore stability in West Asia while slaughtering innocent Yemeni people.

In a meeting with United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in Tehran on Saturday, Araqchi said American policymakers must come to the realization that the root cause of insecurity in the region is the continued Israeli occupation and genocide in Palestine.

He said that the United States cannot claim to restore stability in the region by attacking Yemen and killing innocent Yemeni people, whose only crime is expressing solidarity and support for the oppressed people of Palestine.

The foreign minister added that the U.S. military aggression against Yemen, along with the escalation of the Zionist regime’s genocide in Gaza and its aggressions against Lebanon and Syria, is yet another sign of America’s complicity in Israel’s lawlessness and compliance with this regime in spreading insecurity and instability in the region.

Criticizing the U.N. Security Council's inaction in response to the gross violations of the principles of the Charter and international law by the United States and the Israeli regime, Araqchi underscored the need for immediate and effective action by the U.N. to stop lawbreaking and disrespect for international norms.

U.N. envoy thanks Iran for continued support in Yemen peace efforts

Grundberg, for his part, extended his congratulations on Nowruz and Eid al-Fitr and expressed appreciation for Iran’s continued support of the U.N.’s role in advancing peace efforts in Yemen.

Providing an update on his recent visit to Brussels and talks with EU officials, the U.N. envoy stressed that achieving peace in Yemen is an urgent necessity for regional stability.
