Yemen's Hadramout tribes announce mobilization in response to threats of STC President

The head of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, Amr bin Habrish al-Ali, on Sunday called for an urgent meeting next Wednesday with tribal sheikhs and dignitaries to discuss local developments in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The head of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, Amr bin Habrish al-Ali, on Sunday called for an urgent meeting next Wednesday with tribal sheikhs and dignitaries to discuss local developments in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

This comes in response to the visit of the president of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) to Mukalla city, the center of the oil-rich province.

In a post on Facebook, the alliance, which is loyal to Saudi Arabia, confirmed that the meeting will be held in the Al-Ulaib area to discuss developments in the province.

This move comes after threats issued by the STC leader against tribal movements demanding partnership and revenues from Hadramout’s wealth.

The visit sparked widespread local discontent, with protests and chants against al-Zubaidi taking place throughout the province as his convoy passed through Mukalla.
