KUCHING, Malaysia (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya advised Sunni Muslims in the country against marrying a Shiite followers to protect the harmony of Muslims in the country who are followers of the Sunah Wal Jamaah.He claimed the advice was made to avoid conflict in a marriage should the couple wanted to get a divorce.The Perlis Fatwa (Edict) Committee, he said, had issued a prohibition against Muslims marrying a Shia and the decision had been endorsed by the Perlis Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council in November last year.The prohibition was made to avoid conflict in a marriage should the couple want to get a divorce, he told a media conference. He referred to a case at the Perlis Syariah Court involving a woman seeking a divorce from her husband, a staunch Shia follower.On measures to prevent the spread of the Shia teachings, Juanda said Perlis did not accept students from countries which practised the Shia teachings. /129
