AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): President of Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi has underlined that mottos of the Ashura uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) belong to the whole history not to a particular time.
According to president.ir, Ayatollah Raisi addressed Iranian mourners in Tehran Wednesday night, noting that the most important lesson from Ashura (the tenth day of Muharram) comes from Imam Hussein's words, who said that it is better to follow the thoughts, traditions and actions of the infallible households of the Prophet of Islam.
Imam Hussein - the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) - and his entourage were martyred in Karbala, Iraq, on October 10, 680 (10th of Muharram 61 AH).
Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his 72 entourage confronted Yazid, the second Umayyad caliph, in 680 aimed at preserving the holy religion of Islam and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Describing the Karbala event as an informative movement for all followers and mourners of Imam Hussein (PBUH), Raisi stated that the Karbala uprising is a big lesson for the Islamic Republic's authorities to follow the way of the infallible Imam and try to make amend the situation based on Imam Hussein's acts.
Ashura is an exemplary event to take lesson and guarantee justice, fairness and fight against tyranny in all eras; so, Ashura is an example for the way of living, the chief executive mentioned.
Imam Hussein (PBUH) emphasized that he will never pledge allegiance to rulers such as Yazid, the second Umayyad caliph, President Raisi stipulated, adding that this motto is a light in the way of all freedom-seeking and anti-oppression nations when it comes to standing against tyranny.
Many martyrs such as Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani have followed up this way of thinking, he added.
The infallible households of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) have so far called on their followers to attach importance to the Ashura uprising and its message for the whole world societies, Raisi noted.
The enemies of the holy religion of Islam wanted to witness the end of freedom-loving and justice-seeking people in the day of Ashura, but God's willing it turned into one of the most important historical events, which initiated a movement throughout the history, he concluded.
