(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Iraqi security troops have arrested two Daesh (ISIS) members in east of Salahuddin province, a security source said on Friday.
“The Rapid Response troops received accurate information that located two IS members, who have arrest warrants issued against them. Troops then carried out an operation and managed to arrest them,” the source told AlSumaria News.
The operation was carried out in the vicinity of Tuz Khurmatu region, east of Salahuddin.
“The arrested members were transferred to detention cells to be then taken to investigation and judicial authorities,” he added.
Last month, Abadi announced full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.
Thousands of IS militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops, was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group.
However, Observers warn that some IS sleeper cells might remain in the country and pose a future security threat.
