Representative of the Shia towns of Al-Fu'ah and Kefriya in Syrian People Assembly on Sunday urged the UN and international human rights institutions to pay due attention to the desperate situation of the besieged people of these two regions.

Syrian MP calls for UN attention to besieged Shia towns of Al-Fu'ah, Kefriya

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Hussein Ragheb al-Hussein who is also deputy head of the Syrian National Dialogue Commission made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari.

He briefed the Iranian diplomat with a report on the status of the besieged region.

The MP referred to lack of food, drug and fuel in the Shia towns of Al-Fu'ah and Kafariya and said 12 citizens, most of them children have died from hunger in the recent days.

2800 people including 102 children have died as the result of terrorist attacks, he added.

The official said that people of these two cities have been trapped in complete besiege and the terrorists’ attacks prevent relief aids to this region.

He asked Iran to do its best for removal of the two besieged areas’ blockade and help dispatch of humanitarian aid to the region.

The Siege of al-Fu'ah and Kefriya refers to the siege of the towns of al-Fu'ah and Kafriya in the Idlib Governorate during the Syrian War. The siege was initiated with a terrorist assault on the capital of the province, resulting in the capture of Idlib.

On 28 March 2015, after four days of fighting, terrorists captured Idlib city and managed to besiege the towns of Kafriya and al‐Fu'ah.
