(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) confirmed on December 29 the death of Abu Jandal al-Kwaiti, the ISIS prominent military commander who was announced dead earlier on Tuesday by an unconfirmed report.
On Monday, December 26, Abu Jandal al-Kuwaiti, an ISIS leader in Raqqah was struck and killed by a coalition airstrike near Tabqa Dam, Syria, CJTF-OIR reported on Thursday.
"He was a previous member of the ISIS’ War Committee and was involved in their retaking of Palmyra, Syria, before being reassigned to Tabqa to try to improve ISIS defenses against the Syrian Democratic Forces," the source said.
CJTF-OIR revealed that Abu Jandal was involved in the use of suicide vehicles, IEDs and chemical weapons against the Syrian Democratic Forces in northern Syria (SDF).
"Because of his associations with ISIS terror attack planners and War Council members, his death will degrade ISIS ability to defend Raqqah and launch external operations against the West," the source added.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday that the ISIS commander was killed by the airstrike which targeted the terrorists in Jaabar village during clashes between the SDF and ISIS terrorists.
According to SOHR, the commander Abu Jandal was one of the famous leaders in the ISIS and led several battles in Hasakah and Khanaser in Syria, in addition to leading battles in Iraq and moving between Syria and Iraq in the recent months.
