Palestinian man dies of wounds sustained by Israeli forces 26 years ago

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A Palestinian man from the al-Jalazun refugee camp in the occupied West Bank district of Ramallah died Wednesday from wounds sustained 26 years ago.

Ahmad Elayyan Zayid, 44, was injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet in 1992 that partially paralyzed him.

Israeli forces shot Zayid from point blank range as he was leaving a mosque during clashes in the refugee camp.

The bullet settled in his brain, causing him to become partially paralyzed and lose the ability to speak.

Zayid had been receiving treatment before his health condition rapidly deteriorated. He was pronounced dead in a Ramallah-area hospital.

Israeli authorities have long been criticized for excessive use of force during near-nightly detention raids across the occupied territory.
