AhlulBayt News Agency - Nearly 1750 students have taken part in the 1000 Quran Memorizer Project in Basra of Iraq.
Deputy Supervisor of the project Hamza Sabah released a statement to the International Media of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine saying, “The number of participants from both genders has reached 1750, some have memorized one part while others have memorized the holy book entirely.”
“Several memorizers are still in elementary school,” added Sabah, underlining the children’s dedication for such a great milestone.
More than 55 Quran courses were organized since the project began in 2009.
The Quran tutors are trained by the Quran Center of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine as it aspires to develop a new generation of Quran reciters inside Iraq and abroad through its international Quran activities.
