Iran open to regional cooperation against extremism

President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that it is necessary that all regional countries join hands in resolving problems facing them.

“The establishment of durable security and stability in the region is possible only if all countries play their own share of positive role,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh.

In a separate meeting with the Jordanian foreign minister, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said that Iran is ready to cooperate with countries in the Mideast region in all areas.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh in Tehran on Saturday.

He stated that Iran prioritizes relations with neighboring and regional countries in its foreign policy.

He also pointed to the importance of continuing talks and cooperation among regional countries in the fight against extremism and terrorism.

The Jordanian foreign minister called Iran an important country in the region and stated that consultation with Tehran under the current regional sensitive situation is important.

He also described terrorism and extremism as the main problem in the region.

Judeh stated that “unity and solidarity” among Islamic countries are required to restore security and stability to the region.

The two chief diplomats also discussed the Palestinian issue, developments in Iraq and Syria, and the recent nuclear talks between Tehran and the major powers known as the 5+1 group.
