An explosion has occurred at a Houthi base in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, causing damages to the building.
According to the agencies citing local residents and police, there have been no victims of the bomb explosion in a district of Sanaa.
The attack came just a day after an explosion at the Houthis' regional headquarters in the Yemeni city of Dhamar, some 60 miles south of Sanaa, which killed at least four Houthis and injured dozens.
Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the Sunday attack.
Houthi targets have repeatedly come under bomb attacks earlier in December. Thus, two car explosions in the Yemeni city of Radaa on December 16 killed at least 25 people. The first bomb went off near a checkpoint controlled by Houthis, and the second one exploded in a Shia area.
The Houthis, a Shia fighters group, has been engaged in continuous fighting with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which intensified in September after the Houthis managed to establish control of Sanaa and advanced into central and western parts of Yemen. The Houthis accuse the incumbent government in Sanaa of discrimination, organizing major rallies and seizing control in parts of the country.
Al-Qaeda militants frequently carry out attacks on Yemen’s security forces and have been locked in deadly battles with Ansarullah fighters over the past months.
The central government has so far failed to confront the terrorist threat. Ansarullah fighters, however, have intervened to fill the vacuum and driven al-Qaeda militants out of many areas in the country.
The Shia revolutionaries also played a major role in the ouster of Yemen’s former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, in 2012.
