The lovers and followers of the infallible Imams of Shia Islam have a tradition of hoisting alam pak at rooftops of their houses and mainly in Imam Bargahs. Alam Pak is respected as a symbol of the Islamic flag carried by Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala. Sunni and Shia Muslims hoist the alam pak as a respect sign for Ahl-e-Bait (AS).
Takfiri fanatics stormed into a Hyderabad Thal area of district Bhakkar and desecrated the alam pak and raised slogans against the Shia Muslims.
The villagers came out on streets and protested against the sacrilege of Islamic sanctity. They demanded police to register case against takfiris and punish them for their disgusting act. The highway leading to Lahore was blocked due to protest.
