Sayyed Ali Fadlullah hails Palestinian reconciliation agreement

His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, Jumada II 25th 1435 H. – April, 25th 2014. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.

The First Sermon

In the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about hypocrisy. He began by defining it, explaining that it is to have two personalities: a hidden one, which is the real one, and another one, which one shows to the people to gain their appreciation.

He then asserted that hypocrisy is not limited to pretending to be a Muslim, for in addition to that, we have the social, political and ideological kinds of hypocrisy. It even extends to include giving in charity just to be seen as doing good deeds or preaching good morals without actually practicing them.

The Sayyed drew a portrait of the hypocrite, saying that he is the one who changes his actions and sayings at will. He would be like the lizard that changes its colors, praising and cajoling people to accomplish whatever he seeks. In short, a hypocrite is a person with many faces.

Explaining that hypocrisy is, in reality, acting a role, but on the stage of life and not the theatre, the Sayyed called on everyone to be pure in their souls and to have the same personality on the inside and the outside.

The Sayyed called for exposing the hypocrites and not to be influenced by them, whether at work, in school, at home or at any place in the society. Let us be the wholly truthful whose sayings reflect what is in their souls and hearts.

The second sermon

In the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about Lebanon where he hoped that the Parliament will reach an agreement regarding the next president to avoid the state of vacuum the Lebanese are afraid of. He added that the best way to do this is to reach an agreement about what kind of a president the Lebanese want. In this respect, he explained that we should have a strong president, not by his muscles or the muscles of his political party or the foreign countries, but by the support of all the Lebanese.

He added that the Lebanese have grown tired of adventurous presidents or presidents who seek to enhance their position at any costs or those who act as an echo to foreign demands. He ended by asserting that electing the president should not be linked with the elections of presidents in other countries, for Lebanon should not remain an echo of the conflicts in the region.

In Palestine, the Sayyed welcomed the Palestinian reconciliation and hoped that the steps the parties agreed on would take place in order to consolidate that reconciliation.
