Another Shia Muslim lawyer shot dead in Karachi

According to police, advocate Ghulam Haider was on his way to home from his office when anonymous gunmen opened indiscriminate firing on his car at Jehangir Road.

Karachi: A Shia Muslim lawyer was gunned down by unknown armed assailants here on Friday, Pakistan Tribune reported.

According to police, advocate Ghulam Haider was on his way to home from his office when anonymous gunmen opened indiscriminate firing on his car at Jehangir Road. Resultantly, Haider, who was an Assistant Director at Insurance Ombudsman Office, was killed on spot. His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

It was second incident of the shooting of a lawyer in the metropolis in two days. On Thursday, vice-president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawyers’ wing in Sindh, Advocate Waqar Shah, was killed when anonymous gunmen opened fire on his car in Gulshan-i-Iqbal area.

Today, lawyers observed strike in protest against Waqar Shah’s killing and boycotted proceedings in City Court Karachi. The lawyers also staged protest on M.A Jinnah Road and demanded immediate arrest of those involved in target killings.

 At least 15 people have been killed in separate incidents of violence in different areas of metropolis over last 36 hours.
