Rohanis UN speech reflects sentiments of Ummah: columnist

Renowned Pakistani columnist on Wednesday hailed the speech of Iranian President Hassan Rohani at the United Nations General Assembly adding that it truly reflected the sentiments of the whole Muslim world.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Orya Maqbool Jan said that world must seriously welcome suggestions of the Iranian President for global peace. President Rohani delivered a speech at the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Iranian President presented a clear picture of the current situation of the Middle East and the world, and gave his proposed solutions for coming out of the current international deadlock. Orya Jan said Rohani stressed that extremism is posing a dangerous threat to the global peace and the issue must be tackled immediately to save the world. The analyst reiterated that the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is peaceful, regretting that certain western countries have been leveling baseless allegations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear drive. He said that when Iranian President has said that nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction have no place in Iran’s security and defense doctrine, and contradict their religious and ethical conviction, so there is no justification for West to point finger at Iran’s nuclear program. He added that Iran is a peaceful nation and has always pursued path of peace. The columnist said that western powers are raising questions over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program just to please the Zionist regime. He said that disputes in the world can only be settled through diplomacy. “Iranian President has rightly stressed the importance of dialogue to solve issues in his speech,” he added. He said that actual problem is that the so called western powers are responsible for the unrest in the world. “Their arms industry depends on these disputes so they cannot afford to restore peace to the world,” he added. He said that US had earned 40 billion dollars from the Second World War and since then it has been earning a lot of money from ongoing conflicts in the world by selling arms. “Peace in the world would destroy the US arms industry of.” The expert on international affairs went on to say that military action cannot solve the crisis in Syria. The intellectual said that President Rohani has wisely raised the issue of drones at the UN forum. He added that drones are counterproductive and have been killing innocent people. He regretted that a large number of innocent people are becoming victims of the US drones strikes. “These strikes must be stopped,” he emphasized./149
