Shia Ulema Council protests arrests of ‘innocent’ youths

General Secretary Shia Ulema Council (SUC) Sindh Maulana Naazir Abbas Taqvi on Thursday said that under pre-planned conspiracy, innocent people of Shia community were being killed in target killing incidents, while the law-enforcement agencies (LEA) were arresting Shia youths in fake cases.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC). Maulana Jaffer Subhani, Maulana Manzoor, Maulana Muhammad Hussaini and Maulana Fayyaz Muthari were also present on this occasion.

He said some media groups were misleading the people through baseless news and warned them to stop publication of such news otherwise the people would besiege their offices.

He said the law-enforcement agencies had failed to protect the life of the people and no serious efforts had been made so far to control terrorism activities in Karachi.

Taqvi said the attack on Justice Maqbool Baqar had raised many question marks on the performance of the law-enforcement agencies as they miserably failed to provide protection to the citizens. He said even the Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) and Members of National Assembly (MNAs) were not spared in the city then who would guard the people, he questioned.

He said the network of terrorists was getting strong day by day in the city but the law-enforcement agencies were hiding the real facts. He alleged that the personnel of the law-enforcement agencies were arresting the innocent people rather than arresting the terrorists.

He said if the law-enforcement agencies do not release the innocent people arrested under fake cases, then a comprehensive line of action in this regard would be announced.

He demanded of the Sindh governor and chief minister to coordinate with SUC for the restoration of peace in the city and ensure of release of innocent people.
