Sayyed Ali Fadlullah: Do not hurt fellow human beings

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The First SermonIn the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about the issue of hurting others. He explained that the Holy Quran has ordered us in several Ayahs not to hurt others. It says: “Those who offend the believers, man and women, for acts they did not commit shall burden of perjury and manifest sin.”Allah not only ordered us not to hurt others, but He has even explained to us that He would forgive all the sins related to not doing one’s rites, but He would not forgive those that are related to hurting others, which cannot be forgiven except by those who are hurt themselves.These are the sublime morals Islam have taught us. It has even demanded us not to hurt others on the psychological level. The Messenger has taught us that: “If you were three, then do not whisper between the two of you ignoring the third till the number increases. This is because whispering will sadden him.” He even warned us against looking to others in an unnatural way: “He who looks at a believer with a look that scares him, Allah, most High, will scare him on the Day when no shade will avail except His Shade.”If scaring fellow believers simply by a look is prohibited, then it is quite obvious that hurting them physically or socially or usurping their money and the like are grave sins. The sin becomes bigger as its consequences grow more harmful, especially when it has to do with the general interests of the society, such as damaging the environment, stealing public property, undermining the people’s security or creating strife among them. Such security is the biggest right of all citizens and those who violate it would be severely punished.Moreover, the offender who thinks he is strong enough to practice his offenses, whether he relies on his own strength or that of his clan or sect, has a problem in evaluating his strength as compared to that of Allah. He forgets that Allah listens to the prayers of the oppressed and that he would be punished on the Day of  Judgment when he will meet Allah alone and no one will do him any good.The Sayyed drew the attention that amidst the prevalent atmosphere of tension and fanaticism we have to call for love and peace. We can do so by cleaning our hearts first from all hatred and evil. We have to love even those we differ with us, and look for what we meet upon with them. We have to be aware that Allah is always watching us and that He holds us responsible for everything we do. Let our slogan be the saying of Imam Ali: “By God were I given all the seven heavens with all they contain in order that I may disobey God by depriving an ant from the husk of a grain of barley I would not do it.”The second sermonIn the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, commented on the consequences of the assault on the two Sunni Sheikhs that could have led to grave results, were not for the awareness and interference of the religious scholars, political leaders and security forces.The Sayyed said that we should regard what has happened as an alarm that alerts us to the multitude of secular tensions in our society, which calls on the religious scholars and political leaders to act swiftly to reproduce an atmosphere of unity among all Muslims.The Sayyed also explained that putting the latest fire off is not enough. All political and security leaders have to remain vigilant, as they might be surprised with additional violations, especially that there are those who are waiting for any opportunity to refuel the tension.In addition to calling the media to act responsibly, the Sayyed called on all officials to make every effort to avoid falling in the same trap again, especially at a time the enemy continues its aggressions, which calls for strengthening our internal unity to confront it.In Syria, the Sayyed condemned the assassination of Sheikh Al-Bouti and feared that the establishment of an opposition government might be a prelude for dividing Syria.He also commented on Obama’s visit to the Zionist Entity in which the latter threatened the forces of resistance in Lebanon and Palestine and provided additional support to the enemy. He called on the Arab leaders to stop putting their stakes on the American arrogant power and build their own strength to face the enemy./129
