(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The President of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nachirvan Barzani demanded the federal government to implement the Iraqi tribunal's decision on recognizing the bombing of the former regime on Halabja city as one of the genocide crimes.

"Baghdad did not comply with the decision of the Supreme Court and did not implement its clauses which require to compensate the families of the martyrs and victims and this is the minimum level of their rights," Barzani said while attending the ceremonies of commemorating the bombing of Halabja with chemical weapons.

"This is considered as a delay to the court's decision."

The Iraqi Supreme Criminal issued a decision that considered what the former regime's had done of bombing Halabja with chemical weapons as a crime of genocide, but the federal government did not apply the decision so far.

The previous regime had attacked Halabja town that coincides today in 1988 with chemical weapons that killed more than five thousand people while more than 20 thousand were injured and a lot of them still suffer from physical and psychological effects.
