Thousands marched in Kargil todayy to protest against carnage of Shia Muslims in the city of Quetta in Pakistan, blaming the government for failing to protect minorities.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Chanting slogans against the government of Pakistan, the angry procession wound its way through the frontier town, demanding that the government curb violent extremist groups operating under the garb of Islam.

They said that the government of Pakistan had failed to provide security to the minorities like the Hindus, Sikhs and the Shia community.

Marchers called for a halt to what they described as the targeted killing of Shia Muslims of which the recent devastating bombing was the second in recent months.

It had killed at least 89 Shia Muslims of the Hazara ethnic stock after a serial bombing in the same city left over hundred Muslims dead.

Speaking to the rally organised by the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, religious leader Sheikh Muhammad Mohaqiq condemned the killings, and said that the government of Pakistan was incapable of securing the lives of minorities.

He urged the government of India to exert pressure on Pakistan security officials to halt the killing of Shia Muslims and ban the terrorist groups involved.

Speakers in the rally said that the mass killings in Quetta had sparked off “international outrage.”

'''Still, those behind the carnages are rarely caught or punished,” they said.
