The program was begin on 25th January with the speech of vice Chairman of IKMT Sheikh Rajayi in which he stressed upon the Unity among Muslims and highlighted the conspiracies of the enemies in sowing discord among the Ummah, and urged people to refrain from any kind of disunity in the society.
During the subsequent days many scholars gave lectures on the said topic. The program also includes session on recitation of Quran and Poetry in praise of holy prophet and his pure progeny (pbut).
On the final day of the "Week of unity", a public rally was raised from Hussaini Park and marched towards Grand Mosque of Kargil where the final gathering was held. Many Sunni and Shia Scholars spoke on the occasion stressing the need of strengthening unity among Muslim.
The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) have been celebrating by Sunni and Shia Muslims on 2 different dates i.e. on 12 and 17 Rabi Ul Awwal (23 to 29 January 1391) respectively, because of the difference of opinion regarding the day of birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). But the Super reformer and the founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (ra) giving the lesson of unity to the Ummah declared this gap of 6 days as the "Week of Unity" which is now celebrated by both Shia and Sunni Muslims.
