(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "Iran is the safest country and Tehran is the safest city, and the security of the summit is at the highest level," Najjar told reporters on the sidelines of the NAM summit in Tehran this morning.
"The necessary measures have been adopted to provide security for the guests and participating leaders and there have been and will be no problem," the minister said.
On Monday, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari announced on Monday that IRGC will be in charge of the security of the heads-of-state summit of the NAM in Tehran on Thursday and Friday.
"Based on a decree communicated by the General Staff of Armed Forces, the responsibility of protecting the security of the NAM summit in Tehran has been entrusted to the IRGC," Major General Jafari said Monday.
"And we are fully ready to provide comprehensive security for this great world summit, making use of the abilities of the IRGC, Islamic Republic Army, Law Enforcement, Interior Ministry and Intelligence Ministry forces," he continued.
He said the IRGC has fully ready and skilled forces and also worked out detailed plans to protect the summit and there is thus no concern in this regard, adding that the IRGC enjoys full intelligence control and has thorough information about influential components of security with regard to the summit.
On Saturday, Iran's Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan announced that the Iranian Law Enforcement Force has mobilized 110,000 policemen to protect the summit.
Radan announced that 110,000 policemen on 2900 cars and 2500 motorcycles are in charge of the security of the NAM summit in Tehran in the next few days.
He added that the police have set up 14 committees and two headquarters to protect participants and the capital, Tehran, as the host city.
Radan also announced that police have erected 360 checkpoints in the capital, 200 of them are under the command of police headquarters and the remaining 160 posts are controlled by the IRGC's Basij (volunteer) units.
