ICRC president in Tehran for NAM meeting

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer arrived here to attend the 16th NAM Summit meeting.Heading a number of staff members of the ICRC, Maurer, upon arrival, said Iran plays key role in the Non-Aligned Movement activities.He then stressed the need to promote cooperation among the member countries to fight natural disasters. The 16th summit of NAM member states will be held in the Iranian capital from August 26 to 31.NAM is an international organization with 120 member states that is not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. Nearly two-thirds of the countries of the United Nations are also NAM members.NAM is the biggest international organization after the United Nations General Assembly./219
