(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Arab League secretary general Nabil Al-Arabi has handed PA chief Mahmoud Abbas 35 million dollars three months ago that were allocated for the Gaza reconstruction, Yousef Rizka, political advisor to Gaza premier Ismail Haneyya, disclosed. He said in a statement to Safa news agency on Wednesday that the money was detained by the Egyptian authorities four years ago, when it was with Haneyya on his way back to Gaza, and deposited with the Arab League. He recalled that whenever the Gaza government demanded a refund the Arab League used to say that the American administration was pressuring it against channeling the money to Gaza. He said the League promised to cash the money in Gaza reconstruction projects.Rizka said that during the recent meeting between Haneyya and Arabi, the latter said that the money was given to Abbas via a bank account in Ramallah without notifying the Gaza government.Haneyya was surprised at the news especially when Arabi told him that the transfer was made with Palestinian consent, the advisor underlined./129
