Iranian top jurisprudent met with a group of nuclear scientists expressed his deep gratitude for the efforts of the scientists highlighting knowledge as the major pillar of Islam.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iranian top jurisprudent met with a group of nuclear scientists expressed his deep gratitude for the efforts of the scientists highlighting knowledge as the major pillar of Islam.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Iranian senior jurisprudent visited the members of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) praising their efforts and demanded a determination to scientific monopoly by the West.

He also praised the efforts of Iran's nuclear scientists and said, "Your efforts for a peaceful atomic energy are as divine as prayer." adding that, "Enemies know that we are not pursuing Weapons of Mass Destruction but they only mean to prevent us to benefit the peaceful usages of this energy in agriculture, medicine and industry."

Top jurisprudent referred to the importance of science in Islam and said, "Knowledge is the major pillar of Islam and the first verses sent to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) were on the importance of Knowledge and learning."

He said," Islam not only values spiritual sciences but also esteems any knowledge that can improve the society."

He quoted the verses and said, "Islam recommends pursue of knowledge even to abyss of the seas" and added," That is the reason for emerge of great scientists like Avicenna, Iranian polymath in 980-1037 BC) and Zakariya Razi (865-925 BC) from Islamic schools."

"According to historical records, Western countries have learned many sciences from the Islamic east but now they monopolize some sciences in a bid to prevent other countries from any scientific innovation." said the grand cleric referring to nuclear science and demanded the younger generation for breaking West's scientific monopoly.
