This year Islamic Republic of Iran has launched the first Press Union of the Muslim World to gather the journalists, editors and media advisories from Muslim countries to discuss the potentialities, necessities and priorities of the Muslim community in this field.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Throughout several conferences the impact of a strong and free media too boost social, educational, economic and political development of Muslim countries have been emphasized.

Part of this emphasize is for a counter move to the mainstream media which has misrepresented the Muslims for the people whose only input is the state TV, radio or papers.

This year Islamic Republic of Iran has launched the first Press Union of the Muslim World to gather the journalists, editors and media advisories from Muslim countries to discuss the potentialities, necessities and priorities of the Muslim community in this field.

In an exclusive interview with Abdul Mumin Murlala, journalist from Nigeria we asked about this union and what African Muslim countries could contribute to this newly launched organization.

The Nigerian journalist said it is a very good idea because the media today has been given another idea by the current events of the world stressing, "Those who lead ideologies, use the media to propagate their ideologies, so Muslims have to use their own media to propagate Islam."

On the necessity for formation of the organization he said there must be a union so that, that idea could be circulated among the Muslims in the World and if it comes to be established, then let it be serious so that there will be a kind of annual gathering where the union will sit to discuss the issues of the Muslim World because then more things will be added to the union as it goes on.

According to Abdul Mumin, like all great moves, there has to be somebody in the lead. Without a leadership nothing can happen. If we all have the same idea but we are not under the same umbrella then there will be a problem so the good thing is that Iran is in the lead in this move to launch the Press Union of the Muslim World.

As of suggestions for the union he said," There should be a central working committee and its members should be from the various participants then they will extend this in their countries and then there will be a network."

He also talked about the way the members of this union can support their peers in other countries saying that one should look at that from the view of a global Islamic movement and that anybody who is going to contribute to that Islamic movement should do it within his own immediate environment.

It is the same idea that has been done in different places so I think everyone is supported by the collectivity.
