(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Head of Hamas’ politburo Khalid Mashaal will visit his birthplace, Jordan in the next few days after 12 years of exile.
According to Rakan Majali, the Jordanian minister of state for media affairs and communications, Qatar's Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani would accompany Mashaal and the two would meet with King Abdullah II in Amman.
After that, al-Thani will leave Jordan, while Mashaal will stay for further talks.
Jordan’s main English news source, The Jordan Times, however, reported Wednesday that Hamas decided to delay Mashaal’s visit to Jordan indefinitely “due to diplomatic protocol.”
The newspaper quoted deputy chief of Hamas’ politburo Mousa Abu Marzouk: “As we have yet to receive a positive response from the Jordanian side, there are currently no plans for a visit.”
