Quran Being Translated into Kurdish

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Awqaf and Religious Affairs Department in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region has announced that a project has started in Saudi Arabia to translate the Quran into the Kurdish language.  The project is being carried out by Saudi Ministry of Awqaf, AKNews website reported.  According to the report, two Kurdish students of Saudi universities had requested that Saudi Arabia undertake to translate the Quran into Kurdish.  Kurdish is the 44th language into which the Quran is translated by the Saudis.  Saudi Arabia’s government plans to publish the translation in 1000 copies and distribute the copies among Kurdish pilgrims in the holy cities of Makkah and Medina.  The Quran has previously been translated into the Kurdish language in countries like Iran./129
