Imam Khamenei's Advisor: Waves of Islamic Awakening Not to Stop

TEHRAN, Iran (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Supreme Leader's top advisor for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati said the waves of Islamic Awakening sweeping the region and the world will not die out.     

"Since Islam is the common belief of all the regional people, the waves of Islamic awakening will not stop and its continuation does not depend on a person or a wing and no one can prevent its progress," Velayati said on Wednesday.

He reiterated that the Islamic awakening is the main issue of the Muslim world as it means returning to Islamic values and the Muslim people want to revive their Islamic identity.

Velayati also underscored Iran's pioneering role in the Islamic awakening efforts, and said the issue sets a main priority for the country.

Earlier, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei had said that enemies are making their best efforts to prevent the rising nations and the Islamic Awakening movement from modeling on Iran.

"The evils (the US and its allies) know that the eyes of the awakened regional nations are stared at our dear country and therefore they have used all their possibilities to prevent Iran and the Iranians from becoming a role model for the great Islamic Awakening movement and to avoid prevalence of the Iranian nation's path of resistance among other nations," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a large gathering of people in Western Iran last Wednesday.

Since the beginning of 2011, the Muslim world has witnessed popular uprisings and revolutions similar to what happened in Iran in 1979.

Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January, which was soon followed by a revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February.

Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have since been the scene of protests against their totalitarian rulers, who have resorted to brutal crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics.

In the chain of regional revolutions, Libya has been so far the last nation to clinch victory over its dictatorial ruler. The euphoric Libyan revolutionaries seized control of most of Tripoli on August 22 in a lightning advance, but they completed victory after they found the hideout of the Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi and killed him last Thursday.
