(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has recently warned that the situation in Bahrain remains “tense and unpredictable” as the Manama regime continues its brutal crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
A political analyst says the western countries have remained silent about the ongoing brutal crack down on the anti-government protesters across the Persian Gulf sheikdom.
We have conducted an interview with Nada Hashwi, a political scientist to further talk over the issue.
Q: The new UK ambassador to Bahrain visited with the King, the king referred to this as a role model in terms of UK and Bahrain relations, what does that say about the UK, which could be a reflection of western countries when it come to Bahrain.
Hashwi: I would like to give a small comment about what king Al Khalifa said today, it is outrageous actually. The words that he used “I forgive them.” I believe we are in 2011 and we are adults and our state of mind is very well. For somebody like this to talk like this to people who have died and been tortured, it is really ridicules and outrageous.
For the west to have a blind eye towards these tortures that just happened over there, it's extremely absolutely nonsense. Of course when you are talking about the UK, you are talking about the US and the Saudi's, it is all in one hand. They all act the same way. They are buying weapons for what? I like to ask them these kinds of questions, to kill more of their people? To kill more of whom? Have they used them once ,against the true enemy of the whole Arab region? Definitely not.
They are putting a blind eye towards what is happening right now in Bahrain and they are escalating things and everybody is pretending that nothing is happening. No torturing, no killing, they are peaceful demonstrators. If you look on the other hand, in other countries they are making a big deal out of nothing.
What is happening right now, I look at them on TV and I am absolutely sickened of these kinds of people, they are still sitting on their chairs and ruling their countries and torturing people. About the weapons again let me tell you, they are buying them to protect themselves from their actual people. I must say what real truth is; they want to use it against sectarianism. Sunni against Shia, who do they want to kill. Mind you all the revolutions started under no sectarianism, we have not heard one word from these people saying we are Shia or we are Sunni.
Plain and simple this kid of dictator has to go somewhere, I don't know where, together with the other rulers, together with the people who are backing them, whether it is Cameron, whether it is Saudi Arabia, whether it is the US, whether it is Obama. All of what is happening is a huge conspiracy against these innocent people that are being killed every single day; we are not going to see any action happening from the west.
We did not hear any words from the UN, what kind of UN do we have? Of course Mr. Bashar Al-Assad, when he said we have no regards of what the UN comes up with. Of course when we see killings like this in Bahrain, and of course let's not forget Yemen. This is nonsense, absolutely nonsense.
Q: As you remember Saudi troops trained in the UK were sent to Bahrain, as you know UK has hired a New York city police officer to help them with their problems, it seems that governments think outsourcing is a way for them to resolve their problems, why does the king think Saudi troops are necessary even after his announcement after this time transpiring for the troops to still be there on the ground.
Hashwi: When the Saudi troops and the Gulf forces moved into Bahrain suddenly the whole conflict moved to a larger state. This is going to actually make it to be a very complex situation in the Arab region. Let's not forget what the Saudi's are doing right now, they are the hands of the US and the Western community, not all of the Western countries, but they are doing their dirty deeds. This are plain and simple, we don't want to hide behind our hands.
What they are doing right now, it is unnecessary for them to be doing. Most of the people don't want them to be there, they have to get out first of all. If you go back a little bit to what they did in Yemen, they destroyed whole villages and nobody bated an eye towards that, nobody said anything about human rights, no body. They actually destroyed people, human beings; we are talking about human beings.
They have no respect for anything not towards women, not towards human life in particular. What is happening right now is nothing new from the Saudis. They are only afraid of one thing; they are moving into sectarianism, we see it in Lebanon more and more. What they are doing right now, being the biggest Sunni country in the world, of course if they lose Bahrain what is that mean, it means that the biggest scare for Saudis is Iran.
Iran is going to move in and what is going to happen, it will be a game and it will be falling apart. We saw it happening in Pakistan and in Afghanistan, in Iraq, and in Lebanon. They have this kind of games that they are playing and they are doing the dirty deeds for mostly America, which Israel is definitely behind. I don't know what they think they are doing but they are destroying countries and they have to consider something. Their country is not beyond what is happening in the Arab world. It is going to come to them very soon.
There is no media over there we cannot see what is going on exactly over there but if we look at the West, we have tons of Shia people over there. What they are afraid of is that if they let Bahrain go from their hands, exactly the same thing is going to happen to Saudi and it will happen very soon.
If they continue with this kind of policies towards other countries their country will go down very soon.
