Concurrent with the mourning ceremonies in the holy city of Najaf, marking the anniversary of martyrdom of the Commander of the Faithful and the First Infallible Imam of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (PBUH) Household, Imam Ali (AS), the Iraqi officials have reported on adoption of strict security measures in this Iraqi city to safeguard the lives of pilgrims.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to Al-Alam News Network on Monday, citing a security official in Najaf Province, the security teams do continuous inspections in the vicinity of Imam Ali (AS) Holy Shrine, and have stationed security checkpoints throughout all roads, while advanced and cutting-edge equipment have also been handed over to these teams for discovery of explosives.

This official pointed out that for inspection of the ancient district of the holy city of Najaf a number of plans have been presented, and currently 30,000 security troops have placed establishment of security on their agenda.

On the anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS), the holy city of Najaf welcomes millions of pilgrims that have come from different regions of Iraq and other countries for pilgrimage of Imam Ali (AS) Holy Shrine and to participate in the related mourning ceremonies.
