(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Head of the Kurdish parliamentary agricultural committee warned today against the present status of water resources in Iraq.
MP Salim Kaku said that "Iraqi neighbors are trying to control water resources and building a great number of small dams."
He pointed out that "the weakness of agriculture in the region does not make us feel the danger of water status in Iraq, so both governments (the central and the regional) should think of building dams to reserve water."
Many warnings were voiced from governmental and non-governmental organs on the future of water in Iraq.
Karbala's water resources director Manaf Mohammed Sabbar warned few weeks earlier against the shortage in water entering Iraqi territories, pointing out that Iraq will receive quarter of the present quantities in 2016 , which necessitates rationing water and organize irrigation techniques, including water purification stations.
