(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An expert forum was held at the 19th International Holy Quran Exhibition last night, July 31, titled “Imam Ali (AS) in the Quran”. Mohammad Ali Movahedi and Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Hajali were the speakers at the meeting. They discussed whether the name of Imam Ali (AS) has been mentioned in the Holy Book. Mr. Movahedi pointed to verse 50 of Surah Maryam (Mary) and said the word “Aliyan” in this verse refers to Imam Ali (AS). He also cited a number of Hadiths in which there are signs that the name of the first Imam (AS) has been mentioned in the Quran. Hojat-ol-Islam Hajali on the other hand, questioned the authenticity of the cited Hadiths and rejected other reasons mentioned as proof that the name of Imam (AS) is mentioned in the Quran. The two, however, agreed that whether the name has or has not been mentioned in the Book of God, the lofty status of Imam Ali (AS) remains the same.
