(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Whatever policies are being pursued by the Americans in Yemen or in the other countries of the Middle East are basically given legitimacy by the Saudi government, legitimacy in the name of pseudo-Islam,” said Syed Ali Wasif, a professor of international law and politics in Trinity University, said in an interview.
“The United Sates today is perceiving its policies in the views and in the light of the Saudi Wahabi teachings and establishment,” he added.
Wasif pointed out that Washington's pursuit of its polices through Saudi Arabia and “other lackeys” in the Middle East is doomed to failure.
“I think in the long time it is going to be the Washington people who will emerge as the losers in that region (the Middle East),” the Trinity University professor noted.
He further described Saudi Arabia as a country in “quandary” with massive social problems at hand and one whose credibility in the Middle East is diminishing day by day.
In mid-March, Saudi Arabia deployed its military forces to crisis-hit Bahrain to assist the Manama regime in its brutal crackdown on popular protests calling on the Al Khalifa ruling family to relinquish power.
Saudis have also been assisting the Yemeni regime to quell popular anti-government protests that have been continuing on an almost daily basis in Yemen's major cities since late January.
