(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Repeating their call for the establishment of a body to enable a prompt transfer of power to the people, protesters in Sana'a and the western city of Ibb chanted on Monday “People want a transitional council.”
Leading protester Yasser al-Ra'eeni said, "We will give the vice president 24 hours, which will not be extended even by one hour.”
He added “If he has not explained his position by the time those hours have passed, we will form a council in coordination with the political parties and the military. If the political parties do not want to take part in forming the council, then the youth will form it."
Hundreds of thousands of people have turned out for regular demonstrations in Yemen's major cities since late January, calling for an end to corruption and unemployment and demanding the ouster of Yemen's Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has been in office since 1978.
