"They apply dividing rules. They create sectarianism, discrimination against the Shias, that will help them divide the Sunnis away from the Shias," he added.
"But the fact is that this is not about taking things from the Sunnis and giving to the Shias. It's about taking things from the ruling family and giving it to everybody equally," Sharif noted.
His comments come on the heels of another day of rallies in Bahrain where tens of thousands of pro-democracy protesters gathered in the capital's Pearl Square on Wednesday, urging Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah to step down.
On the tenth consecutive day of protests, Bahrainis also called for the release of political prisoners and an investigation into the deaths of a number of protesters.
At least seven pro-democracy protesters have so far been killed and many others wounded during clashes with security forces.
Bahraini activists say that some 70 protesters have also gone missing.
