Christians are against the Holy Qur’an desecration by Florida church pastor Terry Jones and the media should act more seriously to reflect Christian opposition to the act.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Those who want to pose the loony man as a pastor aim at putting Islam before Christianity,” Hujatol Islam Seyyed Javad Mousavi Havaii, Iran’s deputy for Islamic Propagation Organization said in response to the possible profanation of Qur’an by Jones who has proposed holding “Judge the Koran Day”.

The Florida Pastor’s anti-Muslim remarks and his threats to burn the holy Qur’an has instigated both world Muslims and Christians before the 2010, 9/11.

Jones, heavily under pressure both at home and abroad backed away from his plan at the 11th minute fearing repercussions.

He said since the enemy’s efforts to made division between Muslim factions bore no fruit, they [the enemies] plan to achieve their goals through making breach among religions.

“Efforts to widen the gulf between Shia and Sunnis will go on,” said the cleric but “the vigilance among the two sects, especially their leaders have foiled their conspiracies,” the deputy said.

The political system of some Muslim and Arab states may fail to realize popular movements in struggling against divisive efforts and may follow a difference approach, but the convergence seen during Hajj pilgrimage, cultural bonds among Muslims echoed in holding Qur’an competitions and the common belief in Qur’an indicates that the enemies plots was in vain.

He said “a group of Sunnis plan to depict all Sunni community as Wahhabis, while all our brother Sunnis do not accept Wahhabi ideas.”

“The group plan to draw an uncivilized and harsh picture of Islam and tries to induce that Islam is against modernism, but when they are defeated , they turn to other methods to target unity among religions, the religions which are based on monotheism, Justice” the cleric said.

Havaii said making division among Muslim factions and among Muslims and Christians is a bid to engage them in factional wars, adding that “ they claim he who insult Qur’an is a pastor, but in fact he is not a pontiff, because even after he insulted Islam for the first time ahead of the 9/11 attacks in 2010, a group of Christian priests distanced from him and even some international leaders not to
“burn all their boats” and distanced from the pastor as well.

“The real believers of the holy Christ will never insult the other divine prophets,” the cleric concluded.
