(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A 15-year-old girl from Sandwell has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.
It is believed that an incident took place at the girl’s school, when she allegedly burned an English language version of the Quran in front of other pupils and then posted a video of the event on Facebook.
A 14-year-old boy was also arrested, on suspicion of making threats.
The video has now been removed from the site, along with two Facebook profiles.
The news follows the arrest of six people in Gateshead after copies of the Quran were believed to have been burned on the anniversary of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Centre, with the video of the event subsequently posted on YouTube.
It was believed that the men could have been copying Terry Jones, the US Pastor who threatened to burn 200 copies of the Quran on September 11 in protest at a plan to build an Islamic centre near New York’s “Ground Zero”.
Mr Jones, who did not act on his threat to burn the Quran, chose to visit Ground Zero on 16 Novemer, the start of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adham, in order to raise awareness of the need to combat Islam. He said his methods were not meant to offend.
Burning the Quran is deeply offensive to Muslims who believe the holy book is the word of God.
