"Nanotechnology has had a major role in the development of other sciences and Iran has also been able to shine in the field internationally during the last three decades," Soltankhah said, addressing the audience in the ceremony.
She also reiterated that Iran holds the first position in the field of nanotechnology in the region with producing 43% of the essays written by the regional scientists on nanotechnology.
Head of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) Saeed Sarkar and Iranian President's Chief of Staff Esfandiar Rahim Mashae'i also attended the inauguration ceremony.
Elsewhere during the same ceremony, Sarkar referred to the efforts made to create convergence among different concerned sectors in the field of nanotechnology, and said, "The exhibition is due to be an evidence of the powerful presence of different governmental and private sectors in the field of nanotechnology and therefore the gathering of all active groups in the field is important for us from the very first step."
He also appreciated the close cooperation shown by the different Iranian ministries and institutions, including Sciences, Research and Technology Ministry, Industries and Mines Ministry and Agricultural Jihad Ministry in holding the exhibition.
Addressing the audience, Rahim Mashae'i also pointed to the government's attention and plans for the development of nanotechnology, and reiterated that the government has decided to regulate the 2011 budget in a knowledge-based manner.
The Third International Nanotechnology Festival (Iran Nano 2010) started work in halls 10-13 at Tehran's International Permanent Fairground. The Festival (October 25 to 29) will be open to the public as of Monday from 9:00 am to 19:00 pm.
