Pakistani women have staged a protest to condemn the desecration of the Holy Qur'an by anti-Islam extremists in the US.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; Pakistani women have staged a protest to condemn the desecration of the Holy Qur'an by anti-Islam extremists in the US.

The women on Monday held an anti-US protest in northwest Pakistan's Peshawar — the capital city of the North West Frontier Province — and condemned the Dove World Outreach Center Pastor Terry Jones' move to call for holding a "Burn a Qur'an Day" on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The ralliers said the US is responsible for the desecration of the Holy Quran.

A protester said, "Through our protests, we want to show the world that the US which claims as a protector of world peace, is itself spreading terrorism by provoking the sentiments of the Muslims."

Jones was forced to call off his decision after he faced strong international condemnation.

Yet, some anti-Islam extremists burned pages of the Muslims' holy book, facing no police intervention or reaction whatsoever.

The insulting move triggered angry protests across the world, particularly in Muslim nations.
