The 11th International Film Festivals will be held in Iran and five Muslim countries concurrent with Sacred Defense Week.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Deputy secretary of the festival, Mohammad Sanati said that secretariat of the event plans to organize the festivals focusing on the subject of the US-backed Iraqi-imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

Sacred Defense Week marks the start of the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran.

He said that director of organizing the festivals abroad, Reza Rastegar, has embarked on a eight-nation tour to review their facilities for hosting the events.

Turkey and Turkmenistan and some Latin American countries are the options for hosting the film festivals, he noted.

The festival seeks to identify the best works produced since 2005, encouraging production of films on the Sacred Defense and paving the ground for the presence of the Iranian cinema in the Muslim countries, Sanati said.

"The festival will focus on various subjects such as ‘role of Islamic Revolution in self-reliance, dynamism and national pride’, ‘role of the people in the victory of the Islamic Revolution’, ‘role of Baseej (volunteer forces) in Sacred Defense and cultural and scientific development and cultural outcomes of ‘Extra Diligence and Extra Work’.

The 11th International Film Festival will be held in Tehran on September 19-29.
