ABNA24 - The Israeli occupation army has issued a military order to seize 26.473 dunums of Palestinian land belonging to the towns of Deir Nizam, Umm Safa, and Attara in the northwest of Ramallah, under the pretext of using them for “military purposes.”
According to official Palestinian sources, the annexed tracts of land are designated for a new settler bypass road connecting the illegal settlements of Ateret and Halamish (Neve Tzuf).
“The land is designated for a route called the Ateret–Neve Tzuf emergency axis, intended to provide connectivity between Israeli settlement sites in the area,” the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said on Tuesday.
The order will remain in effect until the end of 2028 and grants the Israeli army exclusive possession of the route specified in maps attached to the order, the Commission added.
The Commission explained that 5.891 dunums of land, or around 22.3 percent of the seized area, are classified by Israeli authorities as “state land,” while another 20.582 dunums fall outside that classification.
The Israeli occupation authority has increasingly used military orders to take control of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.
The UN considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including east Jerusalem, illegal under international law.
